The first step is to define your area of interest (AOI).
You can navigate to it and define it using either the Quick Navigation panel in the left column or the Interactive Map in the right column.
Using Quick Navigation: Navigate by entering all or part of an address (street number, city, state, zip code); state and county; soil survey area; latitude and longitude; section, township, and range; BLM field office; Department of Defense installation; Forest Service unit; National Park; or 8-digit hydrologic unit.
Using the Interactive Map: Navigate by
using the buttons on the map
toolbar:
Move the
cursor over a button to see a tooltip that
describes what the button does.
Using Quick Navigation: Define an entire soil survey area as your AOI.
Using the Interactive Map: Define an
area up to 10,000 acres by using the AOI tools on the
map toolbar:
When using the
polygon AOI tool, double click or CTRL-click the last point to
finish the polygon. To start over after beginning to
define a polygon, press the Escape key
(Esc).
To see the map legend and layers, click the Legend tab on the left side of the map panel. The map legend will open in a floating window.
To close the map legend, click the
button or click the
Legend tab name again.
